Window & door system repairs: identify your system
By The Façade Doctor · Published 21 September 2026
A window that will not close, a dropped entrance door or a leaking frame needs the right diagnosis before parts are ordered. The Façade Doctor provides window, door and façade repair assessments in London and for projects across the UK. This guide helps you describe the installed system and the fault.
Start with the system, then identify the hardware
A brand name is a starting point, not a replacement-part specification. The frame system, opening type, fabrication date, hardware variant and glazing arrangement all matter. A number stamped on a hinge may identify the hardware supplier rather than the window manufacturer.
The system references below are drawn from manufacturer documentation. They are identification examples, not a claim that every variant can be repaired, that parts are in stock, or that The Façade Doctor is an authorised agent for these manufacturers. We confirm the repair scope, access and parts availability for each installation.
- Send a photograph of the whole window or door and a close-up of any label, serial number or hardware marking.
- Include the building postcode, approximate installation date, opening direction and a description of the fault.
- An O&M manual, original drawing or previous service sheet is more reliable than choosing a part by appearance.
Schüco window and door repairs: AWS 70.HI and ADS 70 HD
Schüco AWS 70.HI is an aluminium window system; ADS 70 HD is a heavy-duty aluminium door system. These references describe different applications even though both include the number 70. Schüco is also written as Schuco or Schueco in older paperwork and search enquiries.
For an AWS window that will not lock, record the opening type and the handle, locking and hinge arrangement. AvanTec SimplySmart and TipTronic SimplySmart are fitting names referenced by Schüco for AWS 70.HI; identifying the actual fitted equipment is essential. For an ADS 70 HD door that catches or will not latch, the survey should distinguish alignment, hinge wear, lock engagement and closer operation before proposing replacement parts.

Reynaers repairs: ConceptSystem 77 and MasterLine 8
Reynaers ConceptSystem 77, often shortened to CS 77, is a system name found in window and door documentation. MasterLine 8 is another window and door family. Identify the exact window or door variant rather than assuming that the family name specifies its hinges, lock or weather seals.
Useful enquiries describe the symptom: a CS 77 window handle turning without locking, a MasterLine 8 door rubbing at the threshold, or water appearing around the frame. Photos of the open sash, locking points and label help separate a hardware problem from a glazing or perimeter-seal defect. Keep any original order reference with the enquiry.

Kawneer repairs: AA720 windows and doors
Kawneer UK documentation identifies AA720 window and door systems, including different window opening arrangements. Record the full reference and the opening type from the building information; an AA720 reference alone is not a hinge or locking-part number.
On commercial aluminium windows and entrance doors, report loose handles, stiff operation, failed seals, rubbing leaves or water ingress separately. The repair assessment needs the frame condition, hardware markings and access requirements as well as the system name. Older drawings and service records can be particularly useful when identifying replacement components.

WICONA repairs: WICLINE and WICSTYLE 65 / 75 evo
WICLINE identifies WICONA window systems and WICSTYLE identifies door systems. Documentation includes WICLINE 65 evo / 75 evo and WICSTYLE 65 evo / 75 evo. Preserve the complete suffix when reporting the system: products from different generations should not be treated as interchangeable.
For a WICLINE window with draughts or poor closing, record the opening type and whether the issue affects one locking point or the whole sash. For a WICSTYLE door, describe whether it drops, catches, fails to latch or leaks at the threshold. Check the installed profile and hardware before specifying gaskets, hinges or lock components.

Aluprof enquiries: MB-70 and MB-86 Casement
Aluprof MB-70 is a thermally broken aluminium window-and-door system. MB-86 Casement identifies outward-opening windows within the MB-86 family. The opening arrangement and full model reference help distinguish the system from a visually similar installation.
If an Aluprof window or door is difficult to operate, provide the frame label and clear hardware photos. A survey can establish whether the issue involves adjustment, worn fittings, weather seals, glazing support or the surrounding installation. Replacement suitability and component availability need confirmation before a repair is booked.

VELFAC enquiries: 200 and Ribo windows and doors
VELFAC 200 and VELFAC Ribo are distinct product ranges. VELFAC offers timber/aluminium composite construction, so these installations should not automatically be treated as ordinary all-aluminium windows. The manufacturer’s range information also distinguishes patio and sliding doors.
For a sticking VELFAC window, faulty handle, damaged seal or misted glazed unit, include any order and element identification available in the product paperwork. Record whether the door is hinged or sliding. The identification and survey determine what work is suitable; a generic replacement handle or seal may not match the installed generation.

Cortizo enquiries: COR 70 / COR 80 Hidden Sash and handles
Cortizo documents COR 70 Hidden Sash and COR 80 Hidden Sash systems, with the Arch Invisible Handle designed for these ranges. Its accessories catalogue distinguishes window handles, cranked and lockable handles, door handles and multipoint-lock arrangements.
A handle name is useful, but do not order from the name alone. Spindle size, fixing arrangement, handing, gearbox and the installed system must match. Send photos and any stamped reference for a loose Cortizo handle, a window that will not lock or a damaged hinge, and request assessment of the complete mechanism.

Handles, hinges, locks and seals: what a repair enquiry needs
Useful component descriptions include espagnolette or multipoint lock, gearbox, locking keep, friction stay, concealed hinge, restrictor, door closer, roller carriage and glazing gasket. Describe what the component does and supply the marking as well as the name.
A part or article number is most useful when it comes from the original component, current manufacturer catalogue or an approved parts schedule. We do not publish guessed numbers or treat similar-looking components as compatible. For safety-critical, fire-rated or escape doors, repairs must preserve the required door assembly performance and be assessed by a competent specialist.
- Do not force a jammed sash or remove a safety restrictor.
- Tell us if the opening is at height or above a public route.
- Keep photographs and service records with the asset reference so the repair can be documented.
